Vasily Dubyago (1938-2008) was a Russian artist, born in Leningrad, USSR. The ballerina in the picture is sitting backstage, waiting for her turn. The artist used watercolor and black ink to emphasize the youth and purity of his model. This drawing is clearly inspired by Degas’s ballet dancers, yet Dubyago`s style is very different.
