The painting depicts a complex of monastery buildings. It is winter and there are snowdrifts all around. The rays of the setting sun have painted the walls of the monastery a delicate pink. And the sky has turned turquoise pink. One can feel that spring is coming soon. The colour palette used by the artist is very light: mainly pink in various tones, creamy-beige and turquoise. Different shades of grey, brown and purple are used very little, mainly for contrast.
