The painting depicts a fairy girl in a fanciful outfit decorated with butterflies, fruit and flowers. She holds a staff on top of which is a bird's nest with eggs of different colours: purple, blue, orange, pink, yellow and white. An exotic bird flutters above the nest. And the fairy herself is surrounded by butterflies. And birds, unafraid, land on the brim of her hat. Despite the variety of small coloured details, the overall tone of the work is subdued: red-brown on an ashy-pink background.
