The Inhabited Island

The viewer is presented with an unusual landscape. In the foreground, on the left, the artist has depicted a rock with a hooded human face. A leafless tree with ligneous roots and red fruits enlivens the smooth terracotta surface. Next to the head lies a quirky red shell. To the right, on the edge of a projecting promontory, rises a tower with three lanterns, resembling a lighthouse. Next to it, right in the water, is a large grey metal umbrella with an open dome. In the distance you can see a rocky island with a construction resembling the towers of a castle, and at the very edge of it stands a boat as if it had been carved out of stone. The serene blue sky without a single cloud is reflected in the calm sea water. The work is made using different shades of brown, grey, blue and blue with the addition of terracotta and pink.
