The work is as if it were an illustration of a story about the personal drama of two people in love. On the left, in the foreground, the artist depicts the couple nestled in a secluded corner, behind large pipes, in an attempt to hide from prying eyes. The stream flowing from the chimney symbolises the flow of life: the boat sails away - this is life itself passing. In the centre of the canvas, beyond the brook, there is a figure of a woman who crouches on the lawn by the hill pensively looking at the stone depicting her beloved face. The author has also placed a large figure resembling the Demon, an image of the power of the human spirit. To the right, in the height, a male figure with an umbrella is hovering, flying high into the sky. The artist used various shades of green, brown, blue, grey and blue, as well as orange, yellow, sandy beige, purple and cream-pink.
