On Holy Week

The painting shows a small town street leading to a cathedral. On the left and right are small houses, a little further away is an imposing house that looks more like a place of business, with a temple next to it.  Evening came, and all the windows were lit. The windows of the cathedral were also brightly lit. The service had apparently just ended, and the well-dressed people were leaving for their homes. There is a sense of the imminent celebration of Easter in the air. The picture looks very smart and colourful. The dark green, emerald hues of the houses and the sky blend in with the lilac and pink of the cathedral and the snow-covered trees, enhancing each other. The red-yellow colour of the illuminated windows and the glittering crosses of the temple lend a touch of smartness, while brown and black serve as contrasts.
