A man and a woman are seated on a bench, next to them are baskets of seedlings and flowers, probably intended for sale. On the right is a young woman in a bright blue dress and a red and colourful shawl, holding a baby in her arms. The couple on the left, under the clock, stare in amazement at the local red-haired ruffian, in patched-up trousers and without shoes, at risk of falling onto the tracks. He is lucky that the train that has just departed has taken a different track. To the left, away, one can see the red-brick station building, next to which a group of people are examining a timetable. In the background the artist has depicted a white-stone church with a blue dome, village houses and a one-storey grey building of a grocery shop. The work is painted in various shades of brown, green, grey, blue, blue, red and pink, with orange, yellow, terracotta, sandy beige and milk colouring also used.
