Adam and Eve (diptych)
By Александр Луферthroughout the Russian Federation.
Size (height&width): 130*75 cm/130*75 cm.
Year: 1999.
Style: Surrealism.
Techniques: Oil on Canvas.
Subject: Nude, Portrait.
In the portraits before the viewer, the artist depicts Adam, the progenitor of the human race, and Eve, the foremother, before the Fall. They are naked, not yet ashamed of their nakedness, their faces turned towards each other. Eve holds a fruit in her hand, its juice dripping down, it is clear that she has just plucked it from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. Light, marble-like silhouettes stand out against the dark floral ornamentation that symbolises the Garden of Eden. The artist chose a concise colour palette, using several shades of brown and beige, adding only white and light grey.
