The painting shows the outskirts of a small town: a stream with bridges, then a meadow and a path, in the distance the houses and the forest behind them. The main thing in this work is the outlines of the church buildings in the foreground, represented in the form of shadows. The church itself is somewhere behind. Only its shadow is visible. The work is drawn mainly in deep green tones which are thickening to emerald green. The artist also used blue, cornflower, blue, taupe and light grey. The outlines are drawn in dark blue.
