A clown in a bright yellow costume with a huge white collar around his neck takes up the entire space of the canvas. Brightly striped knee-length stockings, large dark blue pompoms and a yellow cap complete the costume. The clown stands on the red carpet in a bizarre pose, obviously performing a number. His colourful canary-coloured figure stands out against the blue-and-lilac background. The work is executed with large strokes; the details are not traced, only the contours are marked in dark grey. The artist has used different shades of blue, yellow, grey and red, as well as mauve, blue and mint.
