The composition is made up of several gallows. Two of them, standing on either side, look inactive: the ropes have been retracted to the sides and fastened to the pole. The largest one is spread out in the centre. Standing beneath it, a figure wrapped in a white shroud holds a scaffold with a small execution device in front of it, with three men hanging on the crossbar. Their red bodies stand out against the light-coloured veil. In the centre above them sits a grey big-eyed owl, grasping the ring with its paws. The artist used different shades of grey, as well as greenish beige, red and white.
