The work is in the style of surrealism. The shore in the foreground is built up with various structures, including some unusual ones. The dome-shaped roof of the house on the left rises, revealing a fantastic creature that barely fits into the house. On the hill to the right you can see an elegant tower with an archway among the trees. The area is not only inhabited by strange creatures, ordinary people and animals can also be found here. In the distance, one can see a rocky island, on which a castle with peaked turrets rises. The artist used a concise colour palette of various shades of brown, grey and blue, with the addition of creamy pink and a small amount of dark red.
